In a video recently shared on YouTube by Channels TV, Falana stated that there was a similar incident in America, where security agents set fire to a house to apprehend a criminal suspect who resisted arrest. He explained that in Nigeria, under the Criminal Justice Act, security agencies are legally obligated to enter a suspect’s residence when traced there and bring them to court. He highlighted that the actions of the officers who colluded with Governor Ododo to prevent Bello’s arrest amounted to obstruction of justice, a serious offense. However, he commended the EFCC’s leadership for showing restraint and not resorting to force to enforce the arrest warrant.

In Falana’s words: “In America a criminal suspect resisted arrest and security agents set fire on the house, the criminal had to run out and he was arrested. In Nigeria, under the Criminal Justice Act, once a criminal suspect is traced to a house, security agencies are bound by law to invade the house, bring him out, and take him to court.
