Falana: Nobody in Nigeria has ever prevented his arraignment before a court of competent jurisdiction

Senior Nigerian counsel Femi Falana has expressed worry about the contradictory court decisions pertaining to the detention and charging of former governor Yahaya Bello, as well as his defiance of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) arrest warrant. A Kogi State High Court issued a restraining order against the EFCC, prohibiting them from arresting, detaining, or even prosecuting Bello, despite the Federal High Court in Abuja issuing a warrant for his arrest. In a video recently shared on YouTube by Channels TV, Falana emphasized that nobody in Nigeria has successfully prevented their arraignment before a competent court. He highlighted the importance of enforcing the law and court orders, stating that there is no need for new reforms in this regard.

In Falana’s words: “Nobody in Nigeria has ever successfully prevented his arraignment before a court of competent jurisdiction. And I am talking of cases that have been decided in this area so you don’t need any new area, you don’t need any reforms.
