Mukhtar Sirajo continued, stating that the present Kaduna State governor was left in possession of a debt worth millions of dollars and had no internal revenue to work with. This assertion was made by Mukhtar Sirajo in an Arise Television interview.

During the interview, Mukhtar Sirajo said, “on the eve of the departure of the former governor (Nasir El-Rufai) from office, a N20 billion loan was procured from a Nigerian bank, thereby mortgaging the entire internally generated revenue of the state.
