Senator Shehu Sani responded by stating that a senator on suspension in the Senate is not permitted to participate in committee meetings, attend the plenary, or be a part of the oversight activities of the Senate.

He continued by saying that the senator’s salary would also be stopped, that he would not be able to enter his office, and that it is not anticipated that the senator would be seen within the National Assembly’s grounds until the suspension is lifted.

Senator Shehu Sani made this disclosure in a post he made on his official X handle on Tuesday afternoon, shortly after Senator Abdul Ningi was suspended.

Sani went on and noted that when he publicly disclosed the salaries and running costs of lawmakers, that it was the then Senate president who saved him from Suspension, noting that any senator who talks too much will always be punished.

He wrote: “Suspension in the Senate means a Senator will not be allowed to attend the plenary and will be prohibited from attending committee meetings and participating in oversight functions. His Salary, allowances and all entitlements will be blocked. He will not have access to his office and he is expected not to be seen within the premises of the National Assembly, until the suspension is lifted.

“When I publicly disclosed the salaries and running costs of lawmakers, it was the then Senate president who saved me from Suspension. If you talk too much, ‘your body go tell you,’ that is why even opposition no fit oppose too much.”

Recall that it was reported earlier today that the Senate suspended Senator Abdul Ningi for three months over his claim that the 2024 Budget was padded to the tune of N3.7 trillion, by Bola Tinubu’s led government. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
