In a live coverage by Symfoni TV, Wike said that when he heard about Igweh’s promotion, he expressed concern to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), wondering why Igweh was being moved from his role as commissioner in the FCT while they were still fighting insecurity. He said the IGP reassured him that even with the promotion, Igweh would still be available to assist whenever needed.
Wike emphasized that the decision to assign Igweh to Zone 7 was entirely made by the IGP, not him. He urged Igweh to thank the IGP for recognizing his talents and keeping him in an important position.
In Wike’s words: “When I heard about Igweh’s promotion to DIG, I asked the IGP why are you removing him when we are fighting insecurity and IGP told me don’t worry, Igweh will still be of assistance if you need him.
