Barau stated that the current difficulties faced by citizens were not unique to Nigeria.

He stated, “Usually, whenever a country, anywhere in the world, is going through difficult times, the citizens rally round their leaders to enable them address the challenges. In Nigerian, President Bola Tinubu came onboard when there were wars and so many economic factors in many countries across the globe that had and still have negative effects on the nation’s economy.

“However, the Tinubu administration is making tremendous efforts in addressing the problems. Please, let us support the president, let all Nigerians support President Tinubu to enable him navigate the nation out of the current challenges.”

Barau stated that the distribution of these palliatives, which include rice and other food items, was part of the government’s effort to mitigate hunger.

He acknowledged previous issues with the distribution of presidential palliatives and explained that the federal government had restructured the process to ensure a fair distribution.

The deputy senate president emphasized that the restructured distribution process aimed to ensure that aid reached those at the grassroots level. He assured that the committee overseeing the distribution in Kano, and other states, would ensure an equitable and effective delivery of the food items.

Barau vowed that as the chairman of the palliatives distribution committee for the northwest, he would oversee a fair distribution of the commodities. He acknowledged that previous distributions had not been conducted in accordance with the scheme set by the president, prompting the reorganization of the distribution committees.
