The operation took place on Wednesday, June 12, in the Ihechiowa community of Arochukwu Local Government Area (LGA) in Abia State.

During the raid, the troops successfully destroyed the IPOB gunmen’s camp. The statement from the army read:

“The raid marks a critical move in the ongoing efforts to curb acts of terrorism by IPOB and ESN, which have been linked to various security challenges and violence unleashed on innocent citizens as well as security operatives in the state.”

In addition to dismantling the training camp, the troops targeted buildings used as hideouts for key ESN commanders.

The operation was carried out with precision and yielded significant intelligence.

“The raid operation was a response to the increasing terrorist activities of IPOB/ESN, which have targeted law-abiding citizens and government agencies in Abia State and other parts of southeastern Nigeria,” the statement added.

In related developments, General Edward Buba, the director of defence media operations, announced the arrest of the perpetrators responsible for killing five soldiers during a raid on some IPOB hideouts in Abia. This announcement was reported by The Nation.

The attack on the soldiers occurred on May 30 in Aba, where gunmen killed five soldiers while enforcing a sit-at-home order declared by IPOB across the south-east to mark the annual Biafra Day.

The Nigerian military continues to intensify its efforts to combat the activities of IPOB and ESN in the region.READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>
