Compared to Atiku, the Senegalese president-elect has been characterized as being considerably younger. In a direct interview with Arise TV, Kassim Afegbua, a former Edo State commissioner for information, said as much. He declared that Nigeria should not be judged by the results of the Senegalese election. While acknowledging that President Tinubu ought to be granted a second term if he remains well enough, he recommended that Atiku focus on the needs of the country and encourage younger people to seek political office. He asserted, “The Senegalese election that he (Atiku) used as a basis, they are completely opposite. Because the candidate of that election was 44 years old, Senegalese president-elect Bassirou Faye.”

“He (Faye) is more or less like a son to Atiku Abubakar. If Atiku Abubakar is thinking of contesting in 2027, he needs to rethink the new dynamics and contemporary issues in the country.”
