Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has reacted to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s remarks that God will punish legal luminaries who pervert the law. Despite initial doubts, Fubara was given the opportunity to command, but he had shown to be untrustworthy, he said. He was thankful that, after the Governor’s treachery, he and his family had avoided serious danger. Being careful with one’s circle of friends and the repercussions of giving authority to the wrong people were themes he repeatedly brought up.
He said in a live coverage by TVC, ‘You [Fubara] were sitting down before people and saying, so-called Legal Luminaries are turning the law upside down. What a shame! That is why you have to be careful who you will give power to. CJ Okocha and Sergeant Awuse nearly collapsed that day, and they insisted that, look, we should let this young man [Fubara] run. We never knew we were living with a snake.
But you must continue to thank Almighty God every day that we never died. Ask me, where would I have been today, and where would my wife and my children be, not knowing they were living with a serpent? But God is God.
