Nevertheless, as reported by The Sun, Faduri Oluwadare Joseph, a former presidential candidate for the Labour Party, voiced doubts in an interview, pointing out that, worldwide, it is unprecedented for legal costs to exceed twice the total campaign budget. He added that there had been improper handling of the campaign cash, which had been kindly donated by well-meaning Nigerians.
In Joseph’s words: “All over the world, we have not heard where money spent on court is more than double the money spent on the campaign. If that is supposed to be government expenditures under the watch of Mr. Peter Obi, can he ever agree to have appended his signature to such a frivolous claim?
