Speaking on Democracy Day, Peter Obi highlighted that Bola Tinubu, throughout his campaign, promised to maintain the trajectory set by former President Buhari.

He remarked, “President Tinubu has been excellent in that aspect,” indicating his belief that Tinubu has continued policies that Obi views as detrimental to the country.

Obi pointed to the rising costs of dollars, fuel, basic food items, and electricity as evidence of Tinubu’s adherence to Buhari’s economic policies. When asked to assess Tinubu’s one-year anniversary in office, including the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project, Obi commented, “You know I have never made comments about one year in office, the reason why is simple. I would say that President Tinubu has kept to his campaign promises.”

He elaborated, “Through the campaign, he consistently maintained that he will continue from where Buhari stopped and he has done excellently well.”

Peter Obi was asked how difficult it would have been for him to govern in the current environment, given the legacy of Buhari’s regime, which many argue has left the country mired in corruption, debt, and other challenges. Obi responded by emphasizing the importance of leading by example.

“The first thing to do as a leader who inherited a difficult situation is to lead by example and start by your own style and conduct, how you manage resources,” he stated. Obi added a pointed critique of Tinubu’s spending priorities, “You cannot say that things are difficult when you are living in conspicuous consumption. Nigeria today is a country with the highest amount of people without homes, over 24 million, yet you are spending 21bn to build a house for one person.”READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>
