Yahaya Bello: EFCC, We Have To Arraign Him in Court Even if We Have To Use The Military

Punch stated that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) threatened to use the military to apprehend former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello in a recent statement. According to reports, Bello’s counsel, Abdulwahab Muhammed, SAN, refused to accept the service of court documents on behalf of his client, who is currently escaping arrest by the EFCC.

Addressing the Federal High Court in Abuja, the EFCC’s legal team, led by Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, underlined their determination to execute the arrest warrant against the former governor, even if it requires the use of force.

He cited Section 284 of the law, which allows for the breaking down of walls to arrest a defendant who is escaping arrest.

Pinheiro stressed that all individuals are obligated to comply with the service of charges.

“We have to arraign him in court even if we have to use the military. Immunity is only attached to a person and not the building. The law allows to break down walls to arrest an evading defendant. Section 284 says all persons are to obey the service of charge,” he said. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
