Hon. Oghene Emma Egoh, a former member of the House of Representatives, evaluated Wike’s contentious selection to the FCT minister post in Abuja in a recent interview with TVC TV. Egoh revealed that some individuals, such as Peter Obi, were concerned about a Southerner holding a ministerial position in Abuja due to the historical domination of Northern ministers during the previous forty years. According to Egoh, there have been a lot of rumors and questions raised concerning Wike’s loyalty to Abuja since his appointment.
However, he stressed that since Wike took on the position, he has effectively gone beyond expectations and disproved the opinions of those who have criticized him.
He said, “Wike’s arrival in Abuja was marked by controversy. Some individuals, including Peter Obi, believed a Southerner shouldn’t hold a ministerial position due to the long history of Northern ministers in Abuja.”
