Wike has responded to these accusations. At an event in the Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Wike, however, denied ever demanding adoration from Governor Fubara or anyone else in the state.

He emphasized his respect for those who acknowledge his contributions but stressed that he has never required worship from anyone. Wike highlighted the significance of acknowledging and valuing others’ contributions without expecting worship.

The discord between Wike and Fubara became evident when Fubara, speaking at a recent event in Port Harcourt, expressed his admiration for Wike’s significant role in his rise to governorship but firmly declared his refusal to worship any individual.

Likewise, at a funeral gathering in Ubima, Ikwerre local government area, Fubara reiterated his position, emphasizing that, “I won’t Govern Rivers on bended knees.”

Responding to Fubara’s comments, Wike expressed astonishment at the notion of ‘worship’ and clarified that he has never requested worship from anyone.

He praised the unity and support of the people of Ogu-Bolo and encouraged them to continue showing appreciation to their leaders without feeling the need to worship them.

Wike also acknowledged making mistakes and sought forgiveness.

He stated, “In life when you make a mistake, there is nothing you can do about it. I have made a mistake, I didn’t know it all. I say God forgive me and I say all of you forgive me.

“But we will correct it at the appropriate time. I’m a human being. I’m bound to make mistakes. My judgment can be wrong. So forgive me for making a wrong judgment. That is part of life, so nobody should kill himself,” the FCT minister added.

Concerning Fubara’s recent declaration about hosting certain lawmakers and covering their children’s educational costs.

“See the Assembly people in their different constituencies. I never knew you were saying rich. I never knew your father was the Managing Director of Shell.
