The rift between Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and the PDP hierarchy arose during the 2023 presidential election, when Wike and his G-5 group opted to support alternative presidential candidates rather than Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s nominee.

This decision led to significant internal discord within the party and contributed to the removal of former National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu.

In response to these challenges, Bode George affirmed that the PDP is actively engaged in reconciliatory efforts aimed at healing internal rifts and restoring unity among party members.

“There is a standing committee. They are going to add more members to do a post-mortem analysis,” George stated during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

He emphasized the party’s desire to avoid punitive measures and instead focus on constructive dialogue to mend relationships and foster unity within the PDP.
