Human rights advocate and attorney Dele Farotimi responded to a user on X that claimed Betta Edu, the suspended minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation, was just being punished for breaking the eleventh commandment. “Every Nigerian will agree with me that she’s not being punished for stealing,” the X user stated. In response to the X user’s statement, Dele Farotimi declared that no one is being punished. He inquired as to whether Betta Edu had received any criminal charges following the occurrence.

“Who is punishing her? Has she been charged for any crimes? Wetin she do wey the remaining no dey do as I type? Na movie dem dey act for una. When the news cycle change, they’ll offer the people some other distraction, and it’ll become just another in a long list of our atrocities”, Dele Farotimi wrote on his page.
