When Emefiele Took The New Notes To Buhari, It Was Buhari Who Said He Should Use Local Printer - According to Clark

Pa Edwin Clark, an Ijaw leader and elder statesman, has claimed that former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele was going to produce the new naira notes overseas until he intervened and told them to utilize a local printer. He asserted that the choice was impacted by the managing director of the nearby printing company’s relationship to Mr. President’s in-law. He clarified how Emefiele allegedly went back to President Buhari for permission and how former Finance Minister Zainab Ahmed was unaware of the naira’s redesign. He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”When the Minister of Finance Zainab Ahmed was questioned. She said she knew nothing about the changes even though the financial control of the central bank is within her hands while the Central bank man is in the monetary aspect. It was at that stage during the criticism that Emefiele went back to Mr. President and the President did not listen to his minister of Finance. So if anybody says Buhari was not consulted, it’s a lie.

Perhaps nobody knows about this, Emefiele was to print this new currency abroad. When he [Emefiele] took the new notes to Buhari, it was Buhari who said he should use a local printer. Because his wife’s brother was the managing director of those who printed these money. So it was Buhari who did it.
