“We’ll Not Allow Obi To Join Atiku. We knew Their Plans, That Was Why We Want To Explore” -According to Arabambi

Channels Television reports that the Labour Party (LP) is dedicated to settling internal conflicts in order to prevent Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, from defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Abayomi Arabambi, the Labour Party’s national publicity secretary, made this claim on Friday during his appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Amidst the ongoing crisis within the LP, Arabambi emphasized the party’s resolve to find a political solution. “Politically, we will not allow the crisis to fester for long that we will now allow Mr. Peter Obi to join Atiku,” Arabambi said. “We knew their plans, that was why we said ‘we need to explore political solution between ourselves.’”

Arabambi’s remarks come against the backdrop of speculation that Obi might align with Atiku Abubakar, the PDP candidate in the last presidential election, in anticipation of the 2027 poll. The Labour Party is actively working to avert this possibility by addressing the internal issues that have plagued the party since the 2023 elections.

The LP is currently entangled in a legal dispute involving its leadership. In April 2023, the FCT High Court restrained Julius Abure and other national officers from parading themselves as party officials, based on an ex parte application. However, in a significant turn of events, the Court of Appeal in Abuja overturned this ruling in March 2024. Justice Hamman Barka, leading a three-member panel, found merit in Abure’s appeal and declared that the FCT High Court had overstepped its jurisdiction. The appellate court also awarded N1 million to Abure and his co-appellants.

Arabambi described the actions taken by Abure between March 2023 and March 2024 as invalid, given the appellate court’s decision. “Since the Court of Appeal just set aside the judgment in March 2024, every other thing done between March 2023 and to 2024 by Julius Abure is a nullity,” Arabambi stated during the show.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
