In the video, the officer alleged that Turji was receiving protection from the Nigerian authorities He noted that in Niger, troops are free to shoot without needing special permission, unlike in Nigeria where they require explicit orders.
Part of his statement reads:
“Bello Turji, let me warn you. Niger is not like Nigeria, where you’re enjoying protection from the authorities. Because in Nigeria, unlike here in Niger, troops require express permission and/or orders to shoot. Make no mistake, I swear by God it’s not really true that you’ve evaded arrest or killing, even in Nigeria. What’s happening there is a high level conspiracy by the authorities to hurt the poor, especially those from the northern part.”

This comes after Turji publicly dismissed claims of his arrest by Niger Republic troops and dared the government to arrest him and his followers.
