The video was twisted to suggest that Obi had declared war on Northerners. He clarified that his actual statements were focused on declaring war against economic stagnation, insecurity, and corruption, not any ethnic group.
Addressing another piece of misinformation, Obi debunked claims of him leading a protest in Abuja. The video circulating online was actually from his visit to the Labour Party Headquarters, where he was mediating a clash between the Labour Party and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC). The video was edited to create a misleading narrative, suggesting that he was leading a protest.
Obi also expressed deep concern over genocidal threats made against the Igbo tribe, which have surfaced on social media platforms like X. He warned that such rhetoric is dangerous, undermines national unity, and violates the Constitution, which guarantees every Nigerian the right to live and work freely anywhere in the country. Obi called for immediate action from authorities to investigate, arrest, and prosecute those behind these threats.
Peter Obi concluded his address by urging all Nigerians to unite against divisive rhetoric and promote unity, tolerance, and understanding. He emphasized that the future of Nigeria depends on the ability of its citizens to live and work together harmoniously.
