Professor Pat Utomi, a political economist and a member of the Obi-Datti Campaign Council, has claimed that the removal of Senator Adams Oshiomhole from the position of APC National Chairman cannot be linked to the current Labour Party chairmanship problem. He described the circumstances preceding Oshiomhole’s dismissal as something he saw firsthand and called undemocratic. He said in an interview with AIT, ”If you call this a crisis, what will you call how APC removed Adams Oshiomhole as Chairman? I was there completely, I saw every move and I saw what happened.
You can’t consider that democratic in any way but it happens. This is what people exercise in power just for advantage. Not whether it will make the country better or not. But we need people we trust for this game, so let’s push to have people that we trust. And PDP had its own series of crisis around that as well.”
The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Mr Peter Obi has given hints about the possibility of him dumping the party ahead of the 2027 election following the leadership crisis in the party.
The former Anambra state governor explained that his primary focus is on the Obidient movement whose goal is to make Nigeria work for all citizens. According to him, the contrived crisis in the Labour Party is part of a distractive strategy, which neither he nor his supporters are willing to fall for.
