In a recent video posted on YouTube by Channels TV, Utomi stated that, despite their differences, he appreciated Obasanjo’s leadership during difficult times, particularly when oil prices fell. He used the example of Obasanjo, the Head of State, who chose to downgrade from luxurious vehicles to a more humble Peugeot 504 amid an economic depression. Because our incomes were down he said ‘We are going to cut our coat according to our cloth not according to our size’ He came down as Head of State to Peugeot 504 and everybody else went below that.
