Tinubu's Govt Plans To Introduce A New National Identity Card In Nigeria Shehu Sani Reacts

Senator Shehu Sani, a former senator who represented the people of Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, has responded to reports that Bola Tinubu’s federal administration intends to implement an enhanced National Identity Card with social and financial features. Senator Shehu Sani expressed his hope that Nigerians will not be required to pay for the improved National Identity Card, which the federal government plans to deploy soon. Senator Shehu Sani made this disclosure in a post he made on his official X handle on Saturday afternoon, while reacting to the reported plan of the Bola Tinubu’s led federal government to introduce a new National Identity Card.

He wrote: “I hope Nigerians will not be asked to pay for the ‘upgraded’ National ID card that would be launched soon.”

Recall that it was reported earlier today that Bola Tinubu’s led government is planning to introduce an improved National Identity Card, featuring social services and financial services.

The National Identity Management Commission disclosed this, noting that the new National Identity Card, will be powered by AfriGO, a national domestic card scheme that was created in partnership with the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Nigeria Inter-bank Settlement System.
