Speaking on Democracy Day, Peter Obi highlighted that Bola Tinubu, throughout his campaign, promised to maintain the policies and direction of former President Muhammadu Buhari. “You know I have never made comments about one year in office; the reason why is simple. I would say that President Tinubu has kept to his campaign promises,” Obi remarked.

Obi elaborated on why he believed Tinubu has faithfully followed in Buhari’s footsteps, pointing out the significant rises in the prices of the dollar, fuel, basic food items, and electricity. “Throughout the campaign, he consistently maintained that he will continue from where Buhari stopped, and he has done excellently well,” Obi stated.

The former governor cited specific economic indicators to support his claims: “Dollar was N460, it’s now N1500; fuel was N238, it’s now about N700; Diesel was N844, it’s now N1415. A bag of rice of N30,000 to N35,000 is now N80,000.”
