Tinubu Sacks Shehu: It's Very Rare In Nigeria That A Single Person Would Move N44B In 4 Days—According to Akunna

The executive director of the Authority Newspaper and a Nigerian journalist named Chuks Akunna made the observation that it is quite unusual for someone in Nigeria to embezzle N44 billion in just four days. This is in reaction to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval of Ms. Halima Shehu’s immediate suspension and investigation. Speaking in an interview with the African Independence Television (AIT) News, Chuks Akunna also noted that the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) remained silent on the issue of the ousted NSIPA CEO’s alleged financial mismanagement, with no discernible response.

According to him: “The interesting thing is that this N44B was allegedly stolen in four days, about ten billion everyday, you know from 27 of December, 31st, 44 billion. And then you know, it also comes to question the role of Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, because this is a statutory body invested with the responsible of tracking suspicious movement of cash.

“So, is it because of the head of the agency and the persons involved are from the same geopolitical zone? I mean these are questions to be answered because, it is very rare In Nigeria that a person, a single person would move N44B in four days and not even a whimper from NFIU”.
