In an interview with Punch News, Dr. Abayomi emphasized that Emefiele’s actions were unprecedented globally and warranted serious consequences. He warned that failure to take action against Emefiele could cast doubt on the government’s authenticity and credibility.

Dr. Abayomi stated that Emefiele’s actions were unprecedented in the history of the world and demonstrated a lack of responsibility or poor recollection of the country’s affairs. According to Dr. Abayomi, “It was unprecedented. To me, what Emefiele did was an unusual development in the history of the world. I don’t think any central bank governor globally has been as audacious as him. So, if Tinubu fails to take action against Emefiele, I believe his government will face questions of authenticity and credibility.”
