Tinubu: If You Look At His Appointments, I'm A Yoruba Man; They're Mainly Lagos Boys—According to Oladipupo Olayokun

Oladipupo Olayokun, the national secretary of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has voiced his displeasure with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s and his All Progressives Congress (APC) administration’s performance. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Olayokun spoke with The Punch about a number of national concerns, including the ruling by the Supreme Court on the petition for a gubernatorial election in Kano State, the division within his own party, and the consolidation of opposition parties.

Olayokun said that Tinubu, who has been in office for eight months, needs to change direction and listen more to his advisers. He accused Tinubu of having a Lagos-centric mindset that does not suit the diversity and complexity of Nigeria.

He said, “Tinubu came with the mindset that Nigeria is Lagos State or Lagos State is Nigeria, and he thinks with this mindset, the president is going to have problems. If he manages Nigeria the same way he managed Lagos State, he will run into problems.”

“Unfortunately, if you look at his appointments, I am a Yoruba man; they are mainly Lagos ‘boys’. And you don’t run a country as diverse as Nigeria in that kind of manner.In the area of corruption, what I think the President should do is let them do a thorough investigation that will know exactly what happened.”

He also criticized Tinubu’s appointments, saying that they are mostly his loyalists from Lagos. He said that this is not the way to run a country as diverse as Nigeria.
