They have sold crude oil up to five years and have received the money and spent it–According to Yemi FarounbiYemi Farounbi, a former ambassador to the Philippines, reportedly voiced compassion with President Tinubu in an article published by the Vanguard. He claimed that the administration had inherited a challenging economic climate from the previous administration, which included excessive spending on crude oil profits. He stated that the President’s efforts to be compassionate and humane have proven ineffective, hurting the people and eroding his popularity.

He indicated his understanding of the challenges faced by the administration but also expressed the importance of transparency and decisive action to address the country’s economic issues.

He said, “He (Tinubu) said I’m going govern people with compassion but they suddenly realized that the last administration had spent crude oil money. They don’t want to tell the people this is the reality of the problem they have and that we have to make sacrifices and part of the sacrifices is that we are not going to import because if we reduce our import, dollar will fall.
