Tinubu: Ajadi says.; Mr President, You Can Remember, When Goodluck Jonathan Removed Subsidy, You Protested

As per Daily Post Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been encouraged to act immediately by ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, who is a prominent member of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), to save Nigeria from plunging into what he terms as a “total collapse.” This severe warning follows the abrupt increase in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also referred to as gasoline, by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

The price of PMS has been increased from N617 per liter to N897 per liter, a development that has sparked widespread concern and criticism across the country.

Oguntoyinbo expressed his alarm at the situation, particularly focusing on the role of President Tinubu, who also serves as the Minister of Petroleum.

He urged the President to swiftly address the situation, emphasizing that the country’s stability and the well-being of its citizens are at stake.

Oguntoyinbo’s statement, made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday, was a direct call for the dissolution of the current management of the NNPC, which he believes is mishandling the nation’s resources.

In his statement, Oguntoyinbo did not mince words, expressing his frustration and concern over what he perceives as the mismanagement of Nigeria’s oil resources by a few individuals at the helm of the NNPC.

He argued that the current leadership of the NNPC, under Mele Kyari, is acting as though it owns the nation’s crude oil and refined products, a situation he finds unacceptable.

“I use this medium to call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to call the NNPCL to order,” Oguntoyinbo declared.

“Oil is our inheritance, and few people who are currently managing the NNPCL do not own our joint inheritance. So it should not be allowed to toy with our lives.”

This statement reflects his deep concern that the nation’s vital resources are being controlled by a small group, to the detriment of the general populace.

Oguntoyinbo further urged President Tinubu to “checkmate the sinister agenda of the Kyari-led NNPC.”

He expressed his belief that the current management of the NNPC has overstepped its bounds, acting as though it owns the country’s resources, and warned that Nigerians will not tolerate such behavior.

“The management has turned itself to the owner of our crude oil and the refined products. Nigerians will not take that nonsense,” he stated.

In a pointed reference to President Tinubu’s past actions, Oguntoyinbo reminded him of his own opposition to the removal of fuel subsidies and the subsequent price hike during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“You can remember, Mr. President, when former President Goodluck Jonathan removed subsidy and increased the PMS price from N96 to about N180, you and well-meaning Nigerians protested,” he recalled.

This historical reference was meant to underscore the need for consistency in leadership and policy decisions.

Oguntoyinbo also questioned the authority of the NNPC to unilaterally increase fuel prices, arguing that such a decision should not be made without the President’s direct involvement and oversight.

“Who gave the NNPC power to unilaterally increase the pump price of fuel?” he asked. “The President as Minister of Petroleum should act fast to save Nigeria.”

The NNPP chieftain’s call to action is a reflection of the broader discontent that has been brewing among Nigerians in response to the recent fuel price hike.

Many citizens have expressed concerns about the impact of the price increase on their daily lives, particularly in terms of transportation costs, the prices of goods and services, and overall inflation.

The sharp increase in the price of PMS is expected to have a ripple effect across the economy, exacerbating the already challenging living conditions for many Nigerians.

Oguntoyinbo’s statement is not just a critique of the NNPC’s actions but also a broader call for accountability and responsible governance.

By urging President Tinubu to intervene, he is highlighting the urgent need for leadership that prioritizes the welfare of the people over the interests of a select few.

His call for the dissolution of the NNPC management is a clear indication that he believes a change in leadership is necessary to restore public confidence and ensure that the nation’s resources are managed in a way that benefits all Nigerians.

As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how President Tinubu will respond to these calls for action.

The President’s decisions in the coming days will likely have significant implications not only for the NNPC but for the broader economic and political landscape of the country.

For now, Oguntoyinbo’s message is clear: swift and decisive action is needed to steer Nigeria away from the brink of collapse.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
