General Anthony Atolagbe, a retired Nigerian Army commander, has said that the police are more technologically advanced than the military. He emphasized that the police, unlike the military, are adept at tracking down stolen phones using technology. He pointed out that if the battery is still in the phone, the authorities can still get it even if it is switched off following a criminal conduct. He suggested that the government set aside money to equip the police and that similar surveillance devices might be made available in all local governments with established police forces. He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”I want to say that the police are better equipped than the military when it comes to using tech to track phones and the rest of it. The police have technology they use to track stolen phones, the military doesn’t have that. Even when the phone is off after you have committed that act, it’s easy for the police to get it back as long as the battery of that phone Is there. So let the government get money to equip them.
