'The New NNPC Chairman Comes From Akoko In The Non-Oil Producing Area Of Ondo State' - According the Pa Clark

Pa Edwin Clark, an Ijaw leader and elder statesman, has voiced concerns regarding the President’s recent selection of the NNPC board. He notes that the new NNPC Chairman is a native of Akoko, an area of Ondo state that does not produce oil. He emphasized that the Niger Delta states provide 90% of Nigeria’s oil earnings and drew attention to the unequal distribution of opportunities and resources related to oil production. He pointed out that the Niger Delta’s residents are left out of several elements of life, even though they are the main source of oil wealth. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”90% of the Oil that generates revenue for Nigeria is found in the Niger Delta today. Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa produce 90% of the Oil, whereas Abia produces 0.7, Imo produces 1.07, Ondo produces less than 4 percent, Edo produces less than 5 percent. But people who produce oil are excluded from everything, from the operation of the oil, their Children are not employed.

Mr President just announced the NNPC board, 11 members of that board. The new NNPC Chairman comes from Akoko in the non-oil producing area of Ondo state. Not from the South-South where the oil is produced. We don’t worry about that but the GMD also comes from the North. Although he’s a fine man, an intelligent fellow, let him remain in the job. But to see that the only executive of NNPC comes from the North, two executives are from the North, and in addition to that, they have another three members. The South East had one as a director. The South-South where the oil comes from because of the influence of the President of the Senate, they were able to have one Eunice Thomas who used to be commissioner for Women Affairs in Akwa Ibom state during Akpabio government.” CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
