'The Majority Position Is That N62,000 Should Be The New National Minimum Wage' -According to Gov Hope UzodinmaHope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State, has claimed that the organized private sector and the government have come to an agreement on a new minimum salary of N62,000. He explained that the agreement on N62,000 would be formally recommended to the President. He stated that the President, in turn, would forward this recommendation to the National Assembly for legislative action. He identified that this procedural step is necessary to formalize the new minimum wage and integrate it into national policy.

He said in an interview with Channels TV, ”When Organised Labour and organized private sector agreed in 2018 against the government position of N24000 as minimum wage, N30000 was adopted. So this is five years after and in this case, the government and organised private sector has agreed on N62,000. The majority position is that N62,000 should be the new National minimum wage. However, all these are going to be a recommendation to Mr. President. And Mr President will then forward it to the National Assembly for legislative action.
