The Hijab Is Our Religion; The Abuse Is More Painful Than The Shelling Of Live Ammunition On Us – According to IMN

 

The forcible removal of Muslim girls’ headscarves while they are in police custody has been harshly denounced by the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), often known as Shi’ites. The Sisters Forum of the IMN called the conduct “an abuse to Muslims and blasphemy to Islam” in a statement issued by Maryam Sani on their behalf.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Maryam Sani said, “Allah (T) says in  the Qur’an, ‘O Prophet! Say to your wives, your daughters, and the women of the believers that they should let down upon themselves their jalabib.’ ( Qur’an: Surah Al-Ahzab, verse 59). The hijab is our religion, culture, and right, and the abuse of the Hijab is more painful to us than the shelling of live ammunition on us.”

Arise News reported that she emphasized that the leadership of the police was fully aware of the sanctity of the Hijab to Muslims but chose to deliberately abuse their religion. “We will not take this abuse lightly. Certainly, an abuse of the Hijab is not just an abuse to the people arrested but to the Muslims and the religion of Islam.”

The condemnation comes after a video surfaced showing Muslim sisters being forced to remove their Hijab while in police detention at the FCT Police Command. The sisters were among the members of IMN arrested during the 2024 Abuja Arba’een Symbolic Trek, which resulted in the death of two police officers.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
