Sara-Igbe Responds Following lawmakers threatened to sack Fubara if he does not present 2024 budget afreshProminent Rivers Elders Council member Anabs Sara-Igbe responded after lawmakers in Rivers State led by Martins Amaewhule threatened to remove Governor Siminalayi Fubara from office if he persisted in rejecting parts of the eight-point peace resolution that President Tinubu had mediated. The MPs called attention to Fubara’s disregard for the resolution’s mandate that he propose the 2024 budget in a new format. The 8-point peace resolution, which includes the budget presentation requirement, was challenged in court as being unlawful, according to a Punch report by Sara-Igbe. In Sara-Igbe’s words: “As far as we are concerned, all the 8-point agenda that was signed are illegal and that is why we are in court to contest it. So, when a matter is before a court, it means the status quo remains. So if they refuse to do that, then the court will take its own stand.
