Speaking to reporters during his meeting with President Tinubu, General Gowon advised Nigerians not to be concerned by critiques leveled at the President’s performance since taking office in May 2023.
He compared it to his own experience during the Civil War in 1967, telling Sahara Reporters that his government was successful in spite of early misgivings.
However, Dr. Amadi expressed dismay over Gowon’s portrayal of prosecuting a civil war as an achievement.
He criticized Gowon for viewing the war as a success, labeling it a monumental failure and disgraceful to be proud of. Dr. Amadi emphasized that going to war under Gowon’s watch was unnecessary and lacked wisdom.
