Salihu Lukman Reveals Some people were determined to get me out of the party’s leadership

In an interview with The Punch, Salihu Lukman, the immediate past National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) North-West, discussed a number of topics, including his dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership and the reasons he is still the most misunderstood politician. Lukman said certain people were scheming on how to remove him from the party when he was responding to the claims that many worried Nigerians were wondering why he threw away his APC NWC seat, despite not being forced to resign.

He said some dynamics are at play, and the public perception doesn’t fully understand the complexity of the situation, as it became evident to him that factions within the party were angry with his role in removing Adamu and his outspoken advocacy.

Lukman alleged that the hazards were clear, extending beyond a threat to his life, to jeopardizing his political success.

He said, “Looking back now, I could see it was not a question of division, but the fact that some people were determined to get me out of the party’s leadership, and I could not just take the risk, because if I had allowed them, and they succeeded, I would have been damaged.”

Further talking, he said, “Anything I say thereafter, people would say it is because I am angry, and that I have been thrown out. Based on that, I chose to save myself, which is why I took a lot of time, basically going all over rebuilding my political career.
