Nwogu called the investigation, in an interview with Arise News, a “official lynch mob” out to defame a man who is considered a hero in Rivers State. Nwogu highlighted Wike’s accomplishments, emphasizing his development of infrastructure, sound leadership, and the federal government’s designation of him as the nation’s top-performing governor. He expressed shock at the attempt to “rewrite history” and demonize Wike, saying he is still one of Rivers State’s living heroes.

The senator’s comments come amid a deepening political crisis in Rivers State, with the probe into Wike’s administration fueling tensions between Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

“The whole talk about investigating and all that is just to do an official Lynch of a man who’s the living hero of Rivers State. The best we ever had, the man who change the face of our State, build our infrastructure, put us on the map of good governance, the man who even from an adversarial government, the Federal Government, the APC led government that time named him the best performing governor in the entire country in infrastructure.
