Rivers Crisis: Okocha "Siminalayi Fubara did not vote for Tinubu in the 2023 Presidential Election"The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Rivers State has alleged, according to Daily Post Nigeria, that Governor Siminalayi Fubara did not back President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential contest. Okocha said, “Siminalayi Fubara did not vote for Tinubu in the 2023 Presidential Election.

“He can’t be more Catholic than the Pope now because he seeks succour from Mr President who he and his ilk are demonizing and disrespecting. It fails.

“His inordinately desperate attempts to curry political capital by surreptitiously declaring support for Mr President for 2027, as defense and fall back, are in his style of subterfuges.”

Referring to the election outcome in the governor’s polling unit, Okocha mentioned, “Please check the result of the 2023 Presidential Election in Ward 5, unit 8, Opobo/Nkoro LGA, Rivers State.”

Since October 30, 2023, Rivers State has been engulfed in a political turmoil. This turmoil became public knowledge after an explosion occurred in the State Assembly complex on the night of October 29, 2023.

Following the incident, the state lawmakers initiated the process of impeaching the governor and suspended four lawmakers.

This incident has caused a deep division within the state Assembly, with 27 lawmakers aligning with the former governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, while three lawmakers remained loyal to Governor Fubara (after the resignation of one lawmaker, Edison Ehie, who now serves as the Chief-of-Staff to the Rivers State Government House).

In December 2023, President Bola Tinubu intervened in the crisis, resulting in the creation of an eight-point resolution signed by Fubara and Wike, with the aim of resolving the issues.

However, this peace agreement has failed to calm the unrest in the state.

The political turmoil originates from the disagreement between the governor and the FCT minister, although the exact reasons for this disagreement are the subject of intense speculation. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
