Igbos both inside and outside the nation have been warned by Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the Pan Igbo Socio-cultural group, not to take part in the ongoing protests that have been caused by economic difficulties. According to Sahara Reporters, Chief Iwuanyawu revealed that he has received approaches from those pressuring Igbos to participate in nationwide protests because of their financial struggles. He did, however, order all Igbo communities and groups, both in Nigeria and abroad, not to participate in these activities in a statement that was made public, stressing that he is still assessing the situation.
Furthermore, Chief Iwuanyawu highlighted the marginalization of the South East region, emphasizing its limited representation with only five states. He issued a notice that if steps are not taken by the federal government and the National Assembly to create an additional state in the South East, Ohaneze would resort to legal action.
