He suggested that Wike’s approach was unwise, considering Fubara’s previous position as the state’s accountant-general.

He argued that Fubara possessed knowledge of the government’s financial affairs, including potentially controversial aspects. He also questioned the source of Wike’s wealth, referencing his public admission of funding the campaigns of various candidates.

He said, “Here is a sitting governor (Fubara), ostensibly put in place by the man before him(Wike), and who demanded and expected loyalty but whom it appeared wanted to also be running the government on his (Fubara) behalf, and issue instructions. Now, that led to disagreement. And I thought the disagreement was not a smart thing on the part of the former governor (Wike). You are taking on the man who was in charge of your finances, who knew where the bones were buried. He was the accountant-general of the State, and you have previously informed Nigerians how you bough form for all those who contested.
