In a recent statement via his official X account, Odinkalu expressed his views, underlining the importance of the NJC’s decision in stopping attempts to compromise the integrity of the judiciary.

“Breaking: In a defeat for the forces of manipulation of the judiciary in Nigeria, @njcNig appears finally to have dropped Amina Yahaya Bello, wife of fugitive, @OfficialGYBKogi, from the list of nominees to be appointed as judges of the High Court of Kogi State,” Odinkalu wrote.

The decision comes as a result of ongoing legal battles involving Governor Yahaya Bello, who is facing fraud charges with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) leading to him been declared wanted.

Odinkalu’s statement reflects general concern over the politicization and potential compromise of the judicial system, particularly in cases involving individuals with interests.
