Problem We Have Now Is That Many CBN Employees Are Children Of Politically Exposed Persons - According to Sanusi

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has defended the transfer of some CBN departments from Abuja to Lagos in the wake of the controversy surrounding the move. CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>

Sanusi said that many CBN staff are children of politicians who are really exposed, and that the Abuja life of these people is more important to them than their job.

Sanusi urged the CBN to go ahead with the relocation and urged the CBN to sack any staff that is not ready to relocate.

In his statement, Sanusi said that to these employees, the CBN is just an office to them, and if they are asked to choose between what they get from their Abuja life and the CBN, they would easily choose to leave CBN.

According to the report by Sahara Reporters, Sanusi said, “The problem we have now is that many employees are children of politically exposed persons and their Abuja life and business are more important than the CBN work.

“The CBN is just an address for them and if they have to choose between their spoilt Abuja life and the job, they would gladly leave the CBN.

“All the more reason for the Governor to put his foot down and get rid of those elements; they are dangerous for the bank’s future.”

The Presidency recently disclosed that the departments of CBN that are being moved to Lagos are those that have dealings with the commercial banks, and that since all the commercial banks have their headquarters in Lagos, it is only ideal for the departments to be moved to Lagos to be close to those commercial banks.
