Recall that during the previous government, former Minister of Communications Adebayo Shittu pushed the Federal Government to investigate non-kinetic approaches in order to address the dangerous issue of banditry in Nigeria.

Shittu who spoke with Channel Television, emphasized on the importance of government to tackle the situation “to ensure we have peace, to ensure that these people lay down their arms and ammunition and add value to their own lives and for them to also contribute to nation-building”.

He argued that if the government can provide more skills to the largest number of them, the less the propensity for them to go back to crime if they are assured that the future awaits for them after going through vocational training.

Meanwhile, Primate Ayodele countered the ex-minister’s statement, asserting that there is no prospect in terrorism because they have done nothing but destroy the country through their actions.

He urged the President not to hearken to wrong advice that will encourage terrorism in the country, adding that our lost heroes must not be in vain and insecurity must be faced with force.

According to a reliable news source from Daily Post, the Cleric said, “There is no prospect in terrorism, terrorists are destroying the country and kidnapping people. They are enemies of this country and should be treated in the same manner.

“They have killed soldiers and citizens, what will be the gain of those who died if the government decides to rehabilitate those that wiped them off from the earth’s surface?

“President Tinubu must be careful not to listen to wrong advice that will encourage terrorism in the country, the death of our heroes must not be in vain and insecurity must be faced with force.’
