Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, has justified his principal’s downfall at the Eagle Square democracy day celebration in Abuja. It was reported that the President lost his footing as he was about to step into the vehicle. However, despite the mishap, the President immediately regained his balance and continued with the proceedings.
The event at the Eagles Square was part of the activities lined up to mark Nigeria’s Democracy Day celebration.
Following the incident, Onanuga took to his X handle to address the incident, saying that the President’s fall should not overshadow the importance of the democracy day celebration.
He said that Tinubu is human just like everyone else, and that even political leaders can slip or fall. He cited examples of US Presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama, who also experienced similar incidents while in office.
He said, “President Tinubu is not a spiderman. He is human like all of us. President Biden has had several slips in the last three years. Even the younger Barack Obama slipped while President. Political leaders are humans. Slipping should not detract from the import of Democracy Day celebration.”
