Dr. Doyin Okupe, a former director-general of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign, boldly compared President Bola Tinubu to Jesus Christ during an interview with Channel Television. Okupe emphasized Tinubu’s capacity to rebuild a faltering country by drawing comparisons between his role in reviving Nigeria’s economy and the miracles worked by Jesus. Okupe made it clear that, despite the fact that Tinubu would not actually perish for the transgressions of Nigerians, he still thought Tinubu would successfully serve out his term as president. Additionally, Okupe addressed his legal history, stating he was never convicted of corruption but rather of money laundering. He asserted that the funds in question were provided under the directive of the then-president, distinguishing money laundering from corruption in his view.
