Police Decloses details of how father, son beat woman to death after she cautioned them

Men from the Ogun State Police Command are presently investigating the events that led to a woman’s death on Saturday, March 30, 2024, when she ordered a father and his kid to quit sitting on the table where she used to sell cow hide, or ponmo. The woman was allegedly attacked by her father, 54-year-old Chizoke Obiadada, and his 17-year-old son, Michael Obiadada, who beat her until she was unconscious, according to a statement released by the state police command on its X handle on Saturday. It was gathered that the woman, whose name was given as Tope Owoade, aged 43 years, cautioned them from sitting on the table she was using to sell ponmo in the Ogijo area of Ogun State. This was said to have led to an altercation, and the father as well as his son later allegedly beat her up.

According to the report, the Divisional Police Officer of the Ogijo Police Station received a complaint from the husband of the woman who said when he returned from a journey, his wife informed him that on the previous day, the father and son, who were their neighbours, beat her up and inflicted injuries on her. This, the man said, resulted in bleeding from the womb and private part of the woman.

The husband added that his wife was rushed to two private hospitals where she was rejected, adding that she gave up the ghost when she was being taken to a government hospital.

Following the receipt of the report, the the Divisional Police Officer ordered the arrest of the father and son who are currently undergoing preliminary investigations. The case is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
