In response to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Project, Peter Obi had said that jobs will be lost during a period when the unemployment rate is rising due to the demolition of Landmark Beach Resort in order to create a right of way for the coastal project.

As a result of the destruction, Obi stated that thousands of jobs are going to be eliminated, and investments worth two hundred million dollars are going to be put in danger. In addition, he stated that the leisure and hospitality industry is facing the immediate loss of over 100,000 jobs, in addition to 80 small enterprises and their four thousand employees, the majority of whom are young people.

Umahi, in his response to Obi’s statement, stated that the former governor of Anambra State was pushing the Igbo people to rebel against the federal government. He also stated that if he were to get them into difficulty, he would not be there to fight for them.

Speaking during an event that was organized by the federal government to compensate property owners that are affected by the demolition, Umahi said, “When you condemn people, you bring judgment upon yourself. And that is what he (Obi) has done. And I think he’s inciting some of the South-East people that are not well informed. He is inciting them. And gets them into trouble. And he doesn’t go to fight for them. Wisdom is a defence. And I want our people to have wisdom because I am involved.”

Reacting to Umahi’s statement, Obi said that he refuses to be reduced to the level of people who dwell in ethnic politics.

In the statement he made on X on Thursday, he said that the claims that he is inciting Igbo people are baseless distractions, and that he has always advocated for unity.

He said, “My focus is on fostering constructive dialogue and inclusivity, rather than engaging in divisive politics. Claims of incitement are baseless distractions. I have always advocated for unity and advancement, refusing to partake in reactionary divisive politics.

“I refuse to be reduced to the level of those who wallow in ethnic politics. Worse still, I have never and can never descend so low as to base my political aspirations on any sectional or ethnic interest.” CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
