Peter Obi: In The South-West, Almost Every Zone In The South Will Have a Grudge Against Him - According to Dr. Akin OsuntokunDr. Akin Osuntokun, the Director General of the Labour Party, talked about the possible political consequences in an insightful interview with Arise TV if Peter Obi were to defect from the Labour Party to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the absence of a guaranteed presidential nomination. Osuntokun stressed that any shift by Obi to the PDP would need to come with the assurance of being the party’s presidential candidate to be considered strategically sound. Without this guarantee, Obi risks alienating his supporters and being viewed as abandoning his long-term political commitments.

“If he’s not going to be the presidential candidate (PDP), he (Obi) will not only have embarked on a futile exercise, he’ll lose a lot of his support for the reason that I mentioned earlier, especially that he will be abbreviating the eight years that are expected,” Osuntokun stated. He underscored the potential backlash from regions that have strongly supported Obi, particularly in the southwest and other southern areas.

The Labour Party Director General highlighted the ease with which Obi’s actions could be misrepresented. “In the south-west, almost every zone in the south will have a grudge against him. Why are you doing this? It’ll be so easy to demonize him.
