He expressed the view that this move would be perceived as a betrayal, especially in the south-west and other southern regions, where Obi’s actions would be easily misrepresented as those of a self-serving politician.

According to him, “If he’s not going to be the presidential candidate (PDP), he (Obi) will not only have embarked on a futile exercise, he’ll lose a lot of his support for the reason that I mentioned earlier, especially that he will be abbreviating the eight years that are expected. In the south-west, almost every zone in the south will have a grudge against him. Why are you doing this? It’ll be so easy to demonise him.
