Peter Obi: Bayo Onanuga, The plane Tinubu use was bought over 20 years ago under Obasanjo's eraPeter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has criticized the Federal Government’s plan to purchase new aircraft for the presidential fleet. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Advisor to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has replied. Onanuga clarified in a recent article published by Punch that President Tinubu’s current aircraft was purchased more than 20 years ago, during the tenure of previous President Obasanjo. He added that it’s a small plane that recently experienced issues when traveling to Saudi Arabia. Onanuga also pointed out that the people who manage the plane have said it needs to be replaced. He questioned why anyone would expect the President to continue using an old and problematic plane. He added that the decision to buy new aircraft was officially recommended by the National Assembly, not just the President’s choice. He criticized Peter Obi for making statements that he felt were unnecessary and not based on the full context of the situation.
